Lemnos rewards the traveller who wanders, and a scooter is the easiest way to do it. Base yourself by the harbour in Myrina, ride up to the floodlit ramparts of Myrina Castle for sunset, then follow the coast road out to Thanos Beach or the volcanic rocks and working fish taverna at Agios Ioannis. None of it is more than twenty minutes away, and every turn brings a different shade of blue.
Lemnos is big for a Greek island, with villages and beaches scattered across a mostly flat, sparsely populated landscape — too far apart to cover on foot, but effortless on two wheels. Outside Myrina itself, traffic is thin and the roads are open, so a scooter rental in Lemnos gives you the range to string together a whole day: a swim in the morning, a hilltop chapel at midday, a war cemetery or ancient ruin by afternoon, all without waiting on a bus timetable.
For a 50cc moped you need at least an AM category licence and to be 16 or over; anything 125cc and up requires the matching motorcycle category, A1, A2 or A. A standard car licence does not cover a scooter in Greece, so check your category before you book. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their licence. Most operators also hold a security deposit, usually as a credit-card authorisation, released when you return the bike undamaged.
Prices move a lot across the year. On our website you'll find scooters from 5 EUR a day in low season, with more typical rates running higher depending on the model and month.
July and August are Lemnos at its busiest and hottest, so scooters get booked out and prices peak — reserve ahead if you're travelling then. May, June, September and October give you quieter roads, gentler heat and lower prices, which makes them the most comfortable months to ride. Many rental shops close for winter, roughly November through March, so outside the warmer months availability is limited.
Greece drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for both rider and passenger, and police do check. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on the open road and up to 110-130 km/h on faster roads, though narrower island lanes rarely allow that pace anyway. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l generally, but only 0.2 g/l for motorcyclists, so it's safest to treat any drinking as off-limits before riding. Keep your licence, IDP and rental papers with you, stick to paved roads since insurance won't cover off-road use, and take island bends slowly — loose gravel and poor lighting catch out even confident riders.
On our website you can rent the following types of scooters: classic scooter, Vespa, moped, motoroller, motoscooter, with a sidecar, with automatic or manual gears, three-wheeled scooters, large, maxi-scooter, touring, scooters with a windscreen and a roof, underbones, electric scooters.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a scooter without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online scooter reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, delivery to your hotel, delivery to your address, delivery to the arrival point of your choice.
Most of our local moped rental companies have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-kept scooter, helmet, lock, top case, GPS, insurance and friendly service.
