Picture yourself weaving past the traffic on Egnatia Street, cutting straight to the waterfront where the White Tower catches the evening light, then climbing into Ano Poli for a view over the whole Thermaic Gulf — all before lunch. That's the kind of day a scooter or small motorcycle buys you in Thessaloniki. Rent one on our website and you're free to ride the length of Nea Paralia at your own pace, chase the coast road toward Perea, or head up into the pine forests of Mount Chortiatis when the city gets too warm.
Thessaloniki's old center wasn't built with cars in mind. The streets around Aristotelous Square and the Roman core are narrow, one-way, and often steep, and parking is scarce and pricey wherever you find it. A scooter slips through all of that, parks in a fraction of the space, and gets you door to door faster than any taxi stuck behind delivery vans. It also opens up trips that public transport simply can't reach on a day trip — the winding roads up to Chortiatis, or the pine-lined coastal route toward the Halkidiki peninsula.
For mopeds up to 50cc you'll need at least an AM category licence; for anything 125cc and up, the matching motorcycle category — A1, A2 or A. A regular car licence won't cover you here. The legal minimum age is 16 for AM/50cc mopeds and 18 for the larger categories, though rental companies often set the bar higher and may ask for a minimum time you've held the licence. Bring an International Driving Permit if your licence isn't from an EU country, and expect to leave a deposit, usually held on your credit card.
Budget around 20-30 EUR per day for a standard 50-125cc scooter in low season, rising to roughly 35-55 EUR per day in high season. Bigger, newer automatics (150-300cc) and touring motorcycles typically run 45 EUR and up per day at the peak.
High season runs July to August, when prices peak and the best bikes go fast, so book a couple of weeks ahead if you're traveling then. Low season stretches from November to March, with the lowest rates but also the coolest, wettest riding weather. May-June and September-October hit the sweet spot: comfortable temperatures, thinner crowds, and gentler prices than midsummer.
Greece drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for both rider and passenger on any scooter or motorcycle, and police enforcement is strict, with real fines for skipping one. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on the open road, and up to 110-130 km/h on expressways and motorways, though smaller-engine bikes are held to lower limits. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l generally, but it drops to a strict 0.2 g/l for motorcyclists, so it's safest to treat riding and drinking as mutually exclusive. Keep your licence, IDP, rental agreement, and insurance papers with you at all times, and stick to paved roads — insurance typically excludes dirt tracks, beaches, and off-road riding entirely.
On our website you can rent the following types of motorcycles: cruiser, sport, touring, standard, classic, dual-purpose, dirt bikes, street, naked bikes or roadsters, choppers, custom, streetfighter, sport-touring, dual-sport, on-road, off-road, adventure motorcycles, supermoto, scrambler, motorcycle with sidecar, enduro, motocross mx, trail, motards, tricycles, bikes with automatic or manual gears, luxury motorbikes.

Most providers include basic third-party liability insurance in the rental price, with options to upgrade to fuller coverage that reduces or removes your deposit liability in case of damage or theft. Always confirm exactly what is and isn’t covered before you set off.
When you make an online motorbike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, or delivery to your chosen address.
Most of our motorcycle rental providers have years of experience and will equip you with a well-maintained bike, helmet and insurance for the ride ahead. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a motorcycle locally, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
