Sant Vicenç dels Horts doesn't look like a place built for scooters at first glance — it reads as a quiet commuter town on the edge of Barcelona. But that's exactly the point. Park a scooter outside your door here and the Gothic Quarter, Sagrada Família and the sand at Castelldefels all drop within easy reach, no train timetables or parking hunts involved. Ride the riverside path along the Llobregat one morning and be weaving through Barceloneta's seafood terraces by the afternoon.
The Baix Llobregat corridor is made for exactly this kind of two-wheeled freedom. Most of the destinations worth seeing sit somewhere between 5 and 30 km out, a comfortable range for a 125cc-class machine on local and secondary roads, and a scooter sidesteps the parking squeeze that turns a car into a burden once you cross into central Barcelona. If you want to rent a scooter in Sant Vicenç dels Horts, this is a base that rewards it.
For a 125 cc scooter you'll need an A1 licence, or a Spanish/EU category B licence held for at least three years — note that this B-based route only counts inside Spain, so most non-EU visitors will need an actual motorcycle licence instead. If you're travelling on a non-EU licence, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it, since rental desks commonly ask for one. Companies usually set their own minimum age, often 18 or 21, and will block a deposit on a credit card in your name before handing over the keys.
Expect EUR 5–7 per day in low season, rising to EUR 10–15 in high season, and EUR 18–25 per day for a premium model.
High season runs through July and August, when demand and prices both peak — book ahead if you're travelling then. Low season, November to February, is quieter and cheaper, so you can often arrange things closer to your travel date. May–June and September–October sit nicely in between: pleasant riding weather without the summer crowds or costs.
Spain drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for riders and passengers on any moped or motorcycle, on every road, at all times. Speed limits top out at 90 km/h on conventional roads and drop to 50 km/h in built-up areas, with mopeds capped at 45 km/h and barred from motorways. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, tightened to 0.3 g/l for riders in their first two years of experience — worth keeping in mind after a long lunch in Sitges before the ride back.
