Picture a warm evening ride along the seafront, the lighthouse catching the last light beside the old castle walls, sand still on your shoes from an afternoon at Playa Serena. That's the rhythm of Roquetas de Mar, and a scooter is the easiest way to fall into it. Rent a scooter in Roquetas de Mar and you can cover the marina at Aguadulce, the harbour-side beach by the old town, and the quiet dune trails toward the natural park, all in one loose loop, stopping wherever the view asks you to.
This is a town built for two wheels rather than four. Roquetas de Mar stretches out as one long resort strip glued together by a flat coastal road, with the old town, the marina and the beaches spaced too far apart to walk comfortably but far too close to bother with a car and parking. A scooter rental in Roquetas de Mar closes those gaps in minutes, slips into any free curb, and lets you string together stops that a bus route never quite connects.
For a moped up to 50cc you need an AM licence (minimum age 15 in Spain), and a full category B car licence also covers you. For a 125cc scooter you need an A1 licence, or a Spanish/EU category B held for at least three years — note that this B-based route only counts inside Spain, so most non-EU visitors will need a proper motorcycle licence instead. If you're travelling on a non-EU licence, bring an International Driving Permit along with your home licence, since rental desks commonly ask for it. Expect a deposit blocked on a credit card in your name, with the amount depending on the vehicle and the operator.
Prices swing a lot with the season. Basic scooters run from 5-15 EUR per day in low season up to 20-40 EUR per day in high season, and a premium model will cost 35-60 EUR per day.
High season on Spain's mainland runs through July and August, plus Easter week, when demand and prices both climb and booking early pays off. Low season stretches from November to March, with the lowest prices and plenty of scooters available at short notice. If you'd rather skip the crowds and the heat while still getting good weather, May-June and September-October hit that sweet spot.
Spain drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for both rider and passenger on mopeds and motorcycles, on every road, at all times. Speed limits are 50 km/h in built-up areas, dropping to 30 km/h on single-lane urban roads, and 90 km/h on conventional roads outside town — mopeds themselves are capped at 45 km/h and can't use motorways. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, tightened to 0.3 g/l for riders with less than two years' experience. Scooters and motorcycles must run with dipped headlights on, day and night, and handheld phones or headphones are off-limits while riding.

When you make an online scooter reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, delivery to your hotel, delivery to your address, delivery to the arrival point of your choice.
