Picture leaving the crowded promenade behind and climbing the coast road toward the Jardins de Santa Clotilde, sea spread out below you, before dropping into a hidden cove for a swim nobody else on the bus tour will find. That is what a couple of hours on two wheels buys you in Lloret de Mar. The old town's lanes are tight and parking is a headache, but the real reward sits further out, along the cliffside road toward Tossa de Mar, where every bend opens onto another pine-covered inlet. Renting a motorcycle here turns those detours from a wish into an afternoon plan.
Lloret rewards two wheels precisely because a car struggles with what makes this coast special. The Costa Brava's winding roads were built for scooters and motorbikes long before mass tourism arrived, and a car simply cannot squeeze into the little pull-offs and viewpoints that dot the route. On a bike you can stop wherever the view demands it, tuck into a cove that has no proper car park, or push on to Girona for the day without worrying about a parking space in a medieval city centre.
For a moped up to 50cc you need an AM licence (minimum age 15 in Spain), and a full category B car licence also covers this class. For a 125cc scooter you need an A1 licence; a Spanish or EU category B licence held for at least three years works too, but only within Spain, so most non-EU visitors will need an actual motorcycle licence instead. Bigger machines step up through A2 and A categories with their own age minimums. If your licence was not issued in the EU/EEA, bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence — rental desks commonly ask for it. Expect rental companies to set their own minimum age, often 18 or 21, and to require a deposit blocked on a credit card in your name.
Average prices run around 20–30 EUR per day in low season — our own listings start near 25 EUR — and climb to 35–55 EUR per day in high season, with premium or larger-displacement motorcycles reaching 50–80 EUR or more.
High season on this coast runs through July and August, plus Easter week, when demand and prices both peak — book a few weeks ahead if you want a specific model. Low season stretches from November to March, with the best riding weather usually falling in May, June, September and October, when roads are quieter and prices sit well below the summer rates.
Spain drives on the right. Helmets are mandatory for riders and passengers on every moped and motorcycle, on every road, at all times. Dipped headlights must stay on day and night. Speed limits are 50 km/h in built-up areas (dropping to 30 or 20 km/h on narrower urban streets), 90 km/h on conventional roads and 120 km/h on motorways — though mopeds are capped at 45 km/h and are not allowed on motorways at all. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, reduced to 0.3 g/l for riders with less than two years' experience. Handheld phones and headphones are banned while riding, so plan your route before you set off.

Most providers include basic third-party liability insurance in the rental price, with options to upgrade to fuller coverage that reduces or removes your deposit liability in case of damage or theft. Always confirm exactly what is and isn’t covered before you set off.
When you make an online motorbike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, or delivery to your chosen address.
Most of our motorcycle rental providers have years of experience and will equip you with a well-maintained bike, helmet and insurance for the ride ahead.
