Picture a morning that starts at the port of Kamariotissa and ends soaking in the hot springs of Therma, with a waterfall swim somewhere in between. That's a normal day when you **rent a quad bike in Samothrace**. The island's rugged interior hides granite pools, forest tracks and a hilltop castle that most ferry-day visitors never see, and a quad gets you to all of it without waiting on a bus timetable that barely exists.
Samothrace is small enough to circle in a single day, but its best corners — gorges, hot springs, unpaved mountain roads — sit off the tarmac that a rental car won't touch. There's no airport, public transport is thin, and traffic outside Kamariotissa and Chora is close to nonexistent. That combination makes an open-air, easy-to-handle quad the natural way to see the island: sturdy enough for gravel and dirt tracks, nimble enough for narrow village lanes, and simple to hop on and off at every viewpoint or swimming hole along the way.
A driving licence is required, though the exact category depends on how the quad is registered — a light quadricycle or a full quadricycle — so it's worth confirming with the rental company before you book. If you're travelling from outside the EU, bring an International Driving Permit alongside your licence. Rental shops typically hold a deposit, usually a credit-card hold, with the amount varying by operator and model.
Expect to pay 15-25 EUR per day in low season, rising to 30-45 EUR in high season, with larger 250-300cc quads or newer models running 45-65 EUR per day in peak weeks.
High season runs July to August, when prices peak and popular models sell out early — book a few weeks ahead if you're travelling then. Low season stretches from November to March, when many island rental shops close altogether. The sweet spot is May-June or September-October: pleasant riding weather, thinner crowds and noticeably lower prices than the summer peak.
Greece drives on the right, and helmets are compulsory for every rider on a quad bike, no exceptions, with fines for skipping one. Speed limits sit at 50 km/h in built-up areas and 90 km/h on open roads, though most of Samothrace's mountain and coastal tracks will keep you well under that anyway. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l for most drivers, tightening to 0.2 g/l for anyone in their first two years of holding a licence. One more thing worth knowing: rental insurance almost always excludes unpaved roads and off-road use, so check with your rental company exactly which tracks are covered before you head for the waterfalls.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
