Sparti is a town most travellers rush through on their way to Mystras, and that is exactly the mistake you should avoid. Give yourself a quad, start at the Leonidas Statue in the centre, and within twenty minutes you can be climbing switchbacks toward Taygetos with the Eurotas valley falling away behind you. Ride out to Trypi Gorge for lunch at a taverna wedged into the rock, then push on toward the Langada Pass, where the road narrows and the views open up over pine forest and cliff. It is the kind of riding that turns a stopover into the best day of the trip.
What makes a quad the right choice here, rather than a scooter or a rental car, is the terrain itself. Sparti's centre is flat and easy on two wheels, but the real attractions — Mystras, Trypi, the hill villages above town — sit on the steep, partly unpaved slopes of Taygetos. A scooter struggles on loose gravel and real gradient, and a car feels oversized on roads built for donkeys, not traffic. A quad handles both halves of the trip without forcing you to swap vehicles or book a taxi for the hills.
Greek rental companies require a valid driving licence, though the exact category depends on how the quad is registered — light quadricycle or full quadricycle — so it is worth confirming with the operator when you book. Minimum age requirements are usually set by the rental company itself and can run higher than the legal minimum. If your licence was issued outside the EU, bring an International Driving Permit. Expect to leave a deposit, typically as a credit-card hold, with the amount varying by operator and by vehicle.
Prices swing a lot across the year. In low season you are looking at roughly 15–25 EUR per day, while high season pushes that to 35–60 EUR per day, and premium models can run 60–90 EUR per day.
High season runs July through August, when prices are highest and popular models sell out early — book ahead if you are travelling then. Low season, November to March, brings the cheapest rates but also cooler, wetter riding conditions. For the best balance of price, weather and daylight, aim for May, June, September or October.
Greece drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider, and enforcement is strict, with substantial fines for skipping one. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on open roads and up to 130 km/h on motorways, though you will rarely need anything close to that on Taygetos switchbacks. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l generally, but a stricter 0.2 g/l applies to novice drivers. Keep in mind that rental insurance almost never covers unpaved roads or off-road use, so stick to the road surface your operator specifies, and carry your licence, IDP and rental papers with you at all times.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.
On our website you can hire quad bikes from the following manufacturers: Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Linhai, TGB.
Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
