Alonissos rewards the kind of curiosity that doesn't fit a bus timetable, and a quad bike is the way most visitors end up seeing the island properly. Picture climbing out of Patitiri harbour toward Chora, the old hilltop town, with the Aegean opening up behind you at every switchback, then dropping back down to swim off the red pebbles of Kokkinokastro before lunch. That's an ordinary afternoon once you rent a quad bike in Agios Dimitrios, and it barely scratches what's on offer.
This stretch of Alonissos is small, hilly and laced with narrow, winding roads that public transport simply doesn't reach often enough. The island is only around 20km end to end, so a quad's range and open-air feel are exactly right for stringing together Chora, the fishing village of Steni Vala and a handful of quiet beaches in a single relaxed loop, including a few unpaved stretches toward the north that a car would struggle with.
Requirements depend on how the quad is registered, so it's worth confirming the exact licence category with the rental company when you book, but you should always carry a valid driving licence. Non-EU visitors typically need an International Driving Permit alongside their home licence. Most operators set a minimum age around 18 and ask for a deposit, usually held on a credit card, before you head off.
Average rental price is 15–20 EUR per day during low season, rising to 30–40 EUR during high season, with premium models running 45–60 EUR per day.
High season runs July to August, when prices peak and the best models sell out early, so book a few weeks ahead if you're travelling then. Low season stretches from November to March, with many island rental shops closing entirely, while May, June, September and October offer a comfortable middle ground — good weather, thinner crowds and gentler prices for anyone planning a quad bike rental in Agios Dimitrios.
Greece drives on the right, and helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger, with fines for skipping one. Speed limits top out at 50 km/h in built-up areas and 90 km/h on open roads, though island lanes rarely let you go that fast anyway. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l for most drivers, tightening to 0.2 g/l for novice licence-holders. Keep in mind that rental insurance almost always excludes unpaved roads and beaches, so stick to tarmac unless your agreement says otherwise, and always carry your licence, IDP and rental papers with you while riding.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price.
