Milos rewards the curious. This volcanic island in the Cyclades hides its best sights down dirt tracks and behind cliff bends — the white lunar rock of Sarakiniko, the rope-and-ladder cove at Tsigrado, the colorful boathouses of Klima. A quad-bike rental in Milos puts all of it within reach, letting you stop wherever the light looks right and detour down a track a bus or taxi would never take.
The island is compact but far from flat, and its road network mixes narrow asphalt with long unpaved stretches that lead to the best beaches and viewpoints. Public buses run limited routes on a limited schedule, and a car feels clumsy on the gravel tracks down to coves like Tsigrado or Firiplaka. A quad handles that terrain comfortably while staying nimble enough for the narrow lanes around Plaka and Klima — the practical middle ground between a scooter's fragility off-road and a car's bulk.
Greek law requires a driving licence to rent a quad, though the exact category depends on how the specific model is registered, so it's worth confirming with the rental company before you book. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their home licence. Rental shops typically ask for a minimum age around 21 and hold a deposit, usually as a credit-card authorization, released when the quad comes back undamaged.
Prices swing a lot with the season. Expect roughly EUR 15–25 per day in low season, our own listings starting at EUR 15, and EUR 35–55 per day in high season. Larger 4-seat or 4x4-style quads and buggies run about EUR 55–80 per day.
High season runs July through August, when prices peak and popular models sell out days in advance — book ahead if you're travelling then. Low season stretches from November to March, when many island rental shops close altogether. The sweet spot is May, June, September and October: quieter roads, easier availability and noticeably lower daily rates.
Greece drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger, and police enforcement is strict, with real fines for skipping one. Speed limits top out at 50 km/h in villages and 90 km/h on open roads, though island tracks rarely let you go that fast anyway. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l for most drivers, tightening to 0.2 g/l for anyone still within their first two years of holding a licence. Keep in mind that rental insurance almost never covers unpaved roads or beach tracks, so ride carefully once the asphalt ends.
