Picture ditching the ferry-port crowds and pointing yourself uphill instead. On Kea, a quad puts you in charge of the day: one minute you're threading up to the Venetian lanes of Ioulida, the next you're parked by the water in Vourkari with a plate of grilled fish in front of you. The island rewards this kind of freedom — and a quad rental in Kea is the easiest way to claim it.
Kea's roads are exactly what a quad was built for: short distances, steep gradients, and stretches of gravel and broken tarmac near the more remote sites. A scooter struggles on the climb out of Korissia or the rough approach to Carthaea; a quad shrugs it off, and you only need a standard car licence to drive one. That combination of compact geography and rugged terrain is why so many visitors choose to rent a quad bike in Kea rather than rely on the island's limited bus service.
All you need is a standard car driving licence — no special motorcycle category is required for a road-registered quad, though it's worth confirming the exact vehicle class with the rental company when you book. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their licence. Rental shops usually set their own minimum age, and you'll be asked to leave a deposit, typically held on a credit card, which is refunded when the quad comes back undamaged.
An entry-level quad runs EUR 15–20 per day in low season and EUR 25–40 per day in high season, with bigger two-seat buggies and UTVs reaching EUR 45–65 per day at the peak.
July and August are Kea's high season — hot, busy, and the most expensive time to ride. For a calmer trip and easier prices, aim for May, June, September or October. Most island rental shops close over the winter, roughly November to March, so outside the April–October window you likely won't find a quad to rent at all. If you're travelling in peak summer, book a few weeks ahead to avoid missing out.
Greece drives on the right, and helmets are compulsory for every rider on a quad — enforcement is strict and fines add up quickly. Speed limits top out at 50 km/h in built-up areas and 90 km/h on the open road, though Kea's narrow, winding lanes rarely let you get near that. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, so keep the wine to dinner after you've parked. Keep in mind that rental insurance almost always excludes beaches, dirt tracks and unpaved roads, so stick to tarmac to stay covered.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.
On our website you can hire quad bikes from the following manufacturers: Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Linhai, TGB.
Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
