There is something particular about arriving in a comarca town rather than a big Spanish city — the pace slows, the streets stop fighting you for space, and a bike suddenly makes more sense than any other way to move. Ribarroja del Túria gives you exactly that: pedal up to the hilltop ruins of the Castillo de Ribarroja del Túria for a view over the rooftops, then drop back down and roll out along the Túria riverbed toward the reservoir at Embalse de Loriguilla, where the roads go quiet and the water opens up in front of you. If you want to rent a bicycle in Ribarroja del Túria, this is the kind of riding you're signing up for.
This is flat-to-rolling terrain with light traffic, which is exactly what a bike wants. The old Túria riverbed has been turned into a car-free green corridor that runs toward Valencia, shaded and level enough for road or hybrid bikes alike, and it links Ribarroja to neighbouring towns without ever putting you on a busy road. Walking is too slow to cover the loop out to the reservoir or the castle hill, and a car is overkill for hops this short — a bicycle hire in Ribarroja del Túria is the size of transport this place was built for.
No licence is required at any age to hire a regular bicycle in Spain, which makes this one of the simplest rentals you'll ever arrange. Companies typically set their own minimum age, often around 16 or 18, and may ask for a deposit blocked on a credit card in your name. An international driving permit isn't relevant here — that only applies to motorised vehicles — so all you really need is ID and a card for the deposit.
Average rental prices run from 3–5 EUR per day in low season up to 8–15 EUR per day in high season, with premium models such as e-bikes or road bikes going for 15–25 EUR per day.
High season on mainland Spain runs through July and August plus Easter week, and Ribarroja follows that pattern with tighter availability and higher prices. Low season stretches from November to March, when rates drop and you'll have an easier time finding a bike without booking far ahead. If you can, May, June, September and October hit the sweet spot — good weather, thinner crowds, and prices that haven't yet peaked.
Spain drives on the right, so keep that in mind on shared sections of road. A helmet is compulsory for cyclists under 16 within built-up areas, and for all ages on interurban roads outside town. Speed limits drop to 30 km/h on single-lane urban roads and as low as 20 km/h where the roadway and pavement share one level, so traffic around Ribarroja moves gently. Vehicles overtaking you must leave at least 1.5 m of clearance, and if you're out after dark outside town, lights and a reflective garment are required. The blood alcohol limit for drivers sharing the road with you is 0.5 g/l, so traffic tends to be cautious around cyclists.
