Córdoba rewards travellers who slow down, and there's no better way to do that than on two wheels. Pedal across the Puente Romano at sunrise with the Mezquita-Catedral glowing behind you, then drift into the Judería, where whitewashed lanes and flower-covered patios along the Calleja de las Flores practically ask you to stop, dismount, and wander. A bike lets you catch that light and that quiet before the tour groups arrive, then carry on to the riverside gardens without ever hunting for parking.
The old town is small, flat, and mostly closed to cars, so a bicycle beats walking without losing any of the intimacy — you can cover the Mezquita, the Alcázar, and the river in an easy morning and still have legs left for the afternoon. It also opens up trips that are awkward any other way: the ride out to Medina Azahara, or a longer loop into the pine-covered hills of the Sierra de Córdoba, both make far more sense on a saddle than squeezed into a rental car.
No licence is required to rent a bicycle in Spain, whatever your age. Most rental points ask you to be at least 18, and you'll usually leave a card deposit, though the amount depends on the shop and the bike. An ID or passport is generally enough — no International Driving Permit needed for a regular bicycle.
Expect around 3-6 EUR per day in low season and 8-15 EUR per day in high season; electric or higher-spec bikes run 15-25 EUR per day.
If you're chasing lower prices and thinner crowds, aim for December-February. High season runs through April and May, when festivals and pleasant temperatures push demand — and rates — up, so book ahead if you're coming then. Outside those windows, availability is usually easy to find without planning far in advance.
Spain drives on the right. Cyclists must wear a helmet on interurban roads regardless of age, though within the city it's compulsory only for riders under 16 — we'd still recommend one either way. Urban speed limits top out at 50 km/h, dropping to 30 km/h on single-lane streets, so traffic moves at a manageable pace for sharing the road. The blood alcohol limit for drivers is 0.5 g/l, so keep that in mind if wine is on the agenda before you ride.

Bicycle rentals typically come with basic cover for third-party damage, but theft and damage terms vary from one provider to another. Some include simple loss or damage protection in the price, while others cover it through your deposit; always check the exact terms on the booking page before you confirm.
When you make a reservation of a bicycle you also can order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, GPS navigation, clip pedals, side cases, rear rack, basket, light, gloves, speedometer, individual guide or tour, full insurance, one-way rental, or delivery to the address of your choice.
Most of our local bicycle rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-kept bike, lock, basket and friendly service.
