Picture wheeling out of Corinth's modern streets and, within minutes, standing in front of the Doric columns of the Temple of Apollo, sea breeze coming in off two different gulfs. A bicycle gets you there without the hassle of parking or the pace of a bus tour, and it lets you push on afterward — down to the water at Lechaion, or up toward the fortress walls of Acrocorinth for a view that stretches over both the Corinthian and Saronic Gulfs. Few places pack so much ancient history into such a short, rideable radius.
Corinth suits a bike better than almost any other way of getting around. The main sites sit a few kilometres apart — close enough that walking between them in the summer heat gets old fast, but far enough that a car feels like overkill once you factor in patchy parking near the ruins and genuinely light traffic on the connecting roads. A bicycle hits the sweet spot: you can string together the ancient city, the canal and a stretch of coastline in one loop, stopping wherever something catches your eye.
No licence is required to rent a bicycle in Greece, so this is one of the simplest vehicles to book — no minimum age set by law, no IDP, no category to check. Rental shops may still ask for a small deposit and some form of ID, but the paperwork is minimal compared with a scooter or motorbike.
Expect to pay around EUR 3–6 per day in low season and EUR 8–15 per day in high season, with premium models running EUR 15–20 per day.
High season runs July to August, when prices peak and popular bikes can sell out. Low season stretches from November to March, with the cheapest rates but cooler, quieter days. May, June, September and October hit the sweet spot — mild weather, fewer crowds and reasonable prices — so booking a few days ahead in those months is usually enough.
Greece drives on the right. Bicycles don't require a helmet by law, though wearing one is always a sensible idea on Acrocorinth's steeper stretches. Speed limits in built-up areas are capped at 50 km/h, so cyclists share fairly calm streets, and the same 0.5 g/l blood-alcohol limit that applies to drivers is worth keeping in mind if you're combining sightseeing with a taverna lunch.
