Picture leaving the coast behind and climbing into the hills where Costa Blanca keeps its best secrets. From La Nucia, the road quickly gives way to dirt track, and within half an hour you can be looking down on the turquoise reservoir at Castell de Guadalest or cooling off in the rock pools of the Fonts de l'Algar. This is quad country: villages stacked on hillsides, waterfalls tucked into ravines, and mountain ridges that most visitors to Benidorm never even glance at. Quad bike rental in La Nucia puts all of it within reach of a single afternoon.
A car can't take the shortcuts here, and a scooter won't survive the loose gravel and steep gradients around Puig Campana or the Bernia ridge. A quad is built for exactly this terrain — enough grip and clearance for dirt tracks and switchbacks, enough speed to cover the 20–40 km between villages without losing the whole day to slow mountain roads. It's the one vehicle that turns La Nucia's inland landscape into something you can actually explore rather than just admire from a viewpoint.
Road-legal quads in Spain are usually rented against a standard car driving licence, though the exact category depends on how the vehicle is classified, so check with the operator when you book. Rental companies commonly set their own minimum age, often 18 or 21, regardless of the legal licence age. If your licence wasn't issued in the EU, bring an International Driving Permit along with your home licence — most desks will ask for it. Expect a deposit blocked on a credit card in your name; the amount depends on the vehicle and the company.
A single-seat quad runs from around 15–30 EUR a day in low season up to 40–70 EUR a day in high season. Two-seat quads, buggies, or extended guided tour packages sit higher, typically 60–100 EUR a day.
High season on the Costa Blanca runs through July and August, when the coast is busiest and prices for a quad bike rental in La Nucia sit at their highest. Low season stretches from November to March, with the best value found outside the Christmas and New Year peak. If you'd rather ride in comfortable weather without the summer crowds or prices, May, June, September and October are the sweet spot — book a little ahead during those months, as good weather draws plenty of other riders too.
Spain drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider on a motorised vehicle, at all times and on all roads. Speed limits top out at 90 km/h on conventional roads outside towns, dropping to 50 km/h in built-up areas and as low as 30 km/h on narrow single-lane urban streets. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, tightened to 0.3 g/l for anyone who has held a licence for less than two years. Keep your phone away and your headlights on, and you'll be riding well within the rules.
