Picture swapping asphalt and traffic lights for black lava fields and open horizon. That's Lanzarote on a quad bike — you can cross the ash-covered outskirts of Timanfaya National Park, weave between the stone-walled vines of La Geria, and pull up at the green lagoon of El Golfo without waiting on a tour bus schedule. It's the kind of island where the landscape does most of the talking, and a quad lets you actually get close to it.
Lanzarote wasn't built with regular hire cars in mind. Long stretches of gravel, ash and unpaved track connect its best sights, and a quad's ground clearance and off-road grip handle that terrain far better than a saloon car or a bicycle ever could. Distances between attractions are real too — La Geria, the north coast, Playa Blanca — so having your own set of wheels beats walking, and the smaller-engine models don't demand a motorcycle licence, which keeps things simple for most visitors.
Rental companies generally ask for a valid car driving licence, and if yours isn't from the EU or EEA you should carry an International Driving Permit alongside it, since many desks require one. Most operators set their own minimum age — often 18 or 21 — regardless of the legal licence age, and a deposit is normally blocked on a credit card in your name before you head off.
A basic single-seat quad runs from around 15 to 25 EUR per day in low season, rising to 35–55 EUR in high season. Larger twin-seat or 4x4 models, especially with a guided tour included, can reach 60–90 EUR per day.
Unlike mainland Spain, Lanzarote rents year-round and its busiest, priciest weeks actually fall in the northern winter — July, August, Christmas/New Year and Easter. Booking a little ahead for those windows is worth it; outside them, especially November through February, you'll find both better availability and lower prices.
Spain drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for anyone riding a motorcycle-classed vehicle, and dipped headlights must stay on day and night. Speed limits top out at 90 km/h on conventional roads and drop to 50 km/h in built-up areas, so island distances rarely mean high speed. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, tightened to 0.3 g/l for drivers with under two years' experience — worth remembering before that last glass of wine in La Geria.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.
On our website you can hire quad bikes from the following manufacturers: Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Linhai, TGB.
Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
