If someday you will be in Cua Can, Phu Quoc, Vietnam, do not think that your only options for getting around are walking and the occasional taxi. You can always rent a scooter in Cua Can on our website and explore this quiet corner of northern Phu Quoc at your own pace. Cua Can is a laid-back fishing village on a river mouth, with easy roads running south to Duong Dong town, west to Ganh Dau, and inland past pepper farms and forest streams. A scooter is the natural way to link it all together, from a sunrise swim to a sunset seafood dinner.
The area suits a scooter perfectly: traffic is light, roads are in good condition, and the island’s best beaches, viewpoints and pepper plantations are spread out just far enough to make a scooter far more convenient than walking or waiting for a taxi. You can be at a quiet northern beach in minutes, or ride south for the length of the island in an easy afternoon.
Requirements vary between rental companies, but common rules are as follows: you should be at least 18 years old, though some scooters are available from 16; for a 125cc machine an A1 licence is usually expected, while larger scooters call for a full A-class motorcycle licence. Foreign visitors should carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) together with their home licence — strictly, a Vietnamese-recognised motorcycle licence is required to ride legally, so check the terms of the specific provider on the booking page. Most companies also ask for a deposit, paid in cash or by card and refunded when you return the scooter in good condition.
Scooter rental in Cua Can starts from around 130,000 VND per day for a small automatic and runs up to about 320,000 VND per day for a larger or newer model. As Phu Quoc is an island, fuel and parts cost a little more than on the mainland, and prices also shift with the tourist calendar:
In short, the dry winter months are the most expensive, while the rainy season is the cheapest time to rent. Because Phu Quoc is a popular destination with a limited scooter fleet, we advise booking a few days ahead, especially around weekends and Vietnamese public holidays.
The best weather runs from November to March, with dry skies, calm seas and warm temperatures, making it the busiest and most expensive stretch of the year. From June to September the south-west monsoon brings short, heavy afternoon downpours, though mornings are often clear and the island is far quieter. April, May and October are transitional months with a fair mix of sun and rain, and often the best value for money.
In Vietnam you ride on the right-hand side of the road. A helmet is compulsory for both rider and passenger. Speed limits around Duong Dong and Cua Can are typically 40–50 km/h, and there is effectively zero tolerance for drink-driving. Roads on Phu Quoc are generally good, but away from the main routes petrol stations can be sparse, so it is worth filling up before heading out to Ganh Dau or the northern beaches. Ride gently on unpaved or sandy side tracks, especially after rain.
On our website you can rent the following types of scooters: classic scooter, Vespa, moped, motoroller, motoscooter, with a sidecar, with automatic or manual gears, three-wheeled scooters, large, maxi-scooter, touring, scooters with a windscreen and a roof, underbones, electric scooters.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a scooter without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online scooter reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, delivery to your hotel, delivery to Phu Quoc Airport.
Most of our moped rentals in Cua Can have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-kept scooter, helmet, lock, top case, GPS, insurance and friendly service.
