Skip the taxi queue and put yourself behind the wheel instead: a quad bike lets you climb straight up to the Big Buddha for the view over Chalong Bay one morning and be parked at Nai Harn Beach for a swim by the afternoon. Phuket rewards this kind of freedom — the island is bigger and more spread out than it looks on a map, and self-driving is what turns a string of separate taxi trips into one easy loop.
The island's roads are exactly why a quad makes more sense here than a scooter. The coastal stretches climb and drop sharply, corners tighten around headlands, and the tracks leading inland toward the waterfalls turn to loose gravel and dirt. A quad's four wheels and wide stance handle that mix of steep tarmac and rough surface with far more stability than two wheels, while still being narrow enough to thread the island's back lanes — a good middle ground for travellers who want to drive themselves without taking on a full motorbike.
Rules for quads are looser than for scooters and motorbikes, since they're mostly used off-road or on tour routes rather than registered for public roads — but you should still expect to show ID, be 18 or over, and carry your home licence and an International Driving Permit if you plan to ride on any public stretch. A deposit is standard practice at rental shops; ask to leave cash or a copy of your passport rather than the original.
Prices on BikesBooking.com start around 190 THB per day in low season, while a standard single-seat quad from local shops typically runs 700–1,200 THB per day in high season, and larger twin-seat or higher-power models can reach 1,500–2,500 THB or more.
High season runs November through February, when the weather is driest and the roads busiest — book a few days ahead if you're arriving over the New Year period. Low season stretches May to October with the southwest monsoon bringing heavier showers, but also lower prices and easier same-day availability if you'd rather decide once you've seen the forecast.
Thailand drives on the left, so keep to that side and overtake on the right. Helmets are compulsory for rider and passenger alike and checkpoints do enforce it with on-the-spot fines. Speed limits sit around 60 km/h in town and up to 90 km/h on rural roads outside it, and the blood-alcohol limit is a strict 0.05%. Watch for sand and gravel on coastal bends, motorbikes riding the shoulder or against traffic in town, and slick painted road markings after a sudden downpour.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
