Picture trading the back of a songthaew for your own set of wheels: the coastal road unspooling beside Nopparat Thara Beach, limestone cliffs rising over your shoulder, the wind doing what no minivan air-con ever could. That's the appeal of a quad bike here — you set the pace, stop wherever the view demands it, and turn what's usually a string of separate taxi trips into one loop that ends wherever you like. Ride out toward the Ao Nang Viewpoint at Dan Sila for sunset, or push further to the Tiger Cave Temple and its legendary 1,237 steps, and you'll see the region the way people who live here actually experience it.
Ao Nang was practically built for this kind of exploring. Its sights are scattered along winding coastal roads and jungle tracks that stretch well past comfortable walking distance, and the traffic thins out fast once you leave the main strip. The terrain does the rest of the convincing: mostly paved, but hilly, with the odd loose or unsealed stretch near the jungle stops, which is exactly the kind of ground a quad handles more confidently than a scooter — especially if you're riding two-up or hauling snorkel gear and a cooler bag for the day.
Quad bikes here are generally treated as off-road vehicles rather than road-registered ones, so most rentals run through guided tours or private tracks rather than open highway use. Requirements vary by operator, but expect a minimum age of 18, a valid driving licence (an International Driving Permit is a safe backup to carry), and a deposit — ask to leave cash or a photocopy of your passport rather than the document itself.
A standard single-seat quad runs roughly 500–650 THB per day in low season and 750–950 THB in high season, while larger twin-seat or higher-cc ATV models climb to around 1,200–2,000 THB per day.
High season runs November through February, when the roads are driest and busiest — book a few days ahead if you want your pick of models. Low season stretches May to October with the southwest monsoon bringing afternoon downpours, but also quieter roads and the lowest prices of the year.
Thailand drives on the left, so keep to that side and overtake on the right. Helmets are compulsory for rider and passenger alike, with on-the-spot fines for going without one. Speed limits sit around 60 km/h in town and up to 90 km/h on rural roads outside it. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.05%, and checkpoints in tourist areas test routinely, especially around holidays — riding without a helmet or the right licence can also void your insurance, so it's worth getting the basics right before you set off.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.
On our website you can hire quad bikes from the following manufacturers: Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Linhai, TGB.
Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
