Picture swapping the tour bus window for open air: the Mekong cliffs of Pha Taem National Park catching the first light, or the eroded stone maze of Sam Phan Bok stretching out under a wide Isaan sky. A quad bike gets you to both without a driver deciding your schedule for you. Ubon Ratchathani rewards travellers who go beyond the temples in town, and the surrounding countryside — rice paddies, riverside villages, forest tracks — is built for exactly this kind of exploring.
The city's real highlights sit 30 to 100 km outside the centre, along quiet rural roads that a scooter handles poorly in a group and that public transport barely reaches at all. A quad bike is stable enough for the rougher, sometimes-unpaved stretches leading to riverside viewpoints and forest waterfalls, and forgiving enough for riders who aren't confident on two wheels. In town, traffic is light by Thai standards, so the same quad works just as well for a relaxed loop between temples before you head out to the countryside.
Thai law requires a motorcycle-category licence for road use — either a Thai licence or your home licence paired with an International Driving Permit carrying the motorcycle entitlement. Quad bikes themselves are mostly used off-road or on private tour tracks rather than registered for public roads, but it's worth carrying valid documents regardless, since checkpoints do check. Most rental shops set a minimum age of 18. A deposit is standard practice; we'd suggest offering cash or a photocopy of your passport rather than handing over the original.
Expect to pay around 550–650 THB per day in low season, rising to 800–1,100 THB per day in high season, with premium models running 1,200–1,800 THB per day.
November through February is both the best riding weather and the busiest, priciest stretch of the year, so it's worth booking a little ahead if you're travelling then. If you'd rather save money and don't mind the odd shower, June to September brings quieter roads and lower daily rates.
Thailand drives on the left, so keep to that side and overtake on the right. Helmets are compulsory for rider and passenger alike, and police do enforce this with on-the-spot fines. Speed limits run around 60 km/h in built-up areas and up to 90 km/h on rural highways outside town. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.05%, checked routinely at roadside stops, especially around holidays. Riding without the right licence or without a helmet can void your insurance, so it pays to keep things by the book.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service.
