If someday you will be in Binh Thuan, Vietnam, do not think that your only options for getting around are walking and the local buses. You can always rent a motorcycle in Binh Thuan on our website and explore this long stretch of southern coast at your own pace — chasing the red and white sand dunes outside Mui Ne, following the coast road past fishing villages, or riding up into the hills for a view over the whole bay. A motorcycle is by far the best way to cover the distances between Phan Thiet, Mui Ne and the quieter beaches further along the shore. On this page you will find a full guide to motorcycle rental in Binh Thuan.

Binh Thuan suits a motorcycle better than almost any other vehicle. The province is long and thin, strung out along the coast, with the main sights spread over 20–30 kilometres of road rather than packed into one town centre. Traffic here is far calmer than in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, the coast road is well paved and largely flat, and a motorcycle lets you stop wherever a dune, a fishing harbour or a viewpoint catches your eye, then carry on at your own pace.

Top 10 things to see in Binh Thuan by motorcycle

  1. Mui Ne Red Sand Dunes — compact rust-coloured dunes right by the road, best reached at sunset for the colours and the cooler air.
  2. White Sand Dunes (Bau Trang) — a much larger dune field with a freshwater lake in the middle, about 25 minutes north of Mui Ne along a scenic stretch of coast.
  3. Fairy Stream (Suoi Tien) — a shallow stream through sandstone canyons that you wade up barefoot; park the bike at the entrance and walk in.
  4. Ke Ga Lighthouse — the tallest lighthouse in Southeast Asia, standing on a small islet off a quiet stretch of coast south of Phan Thiet.
  5. Ta Cu Mountain — a forested peak with a giant reclining Buddha statue near the summit, reached by cable car after the ride up.
  6. Po Sah Inu Cham Towers — a small cluster of red-brick Cham temples on a hill just outside Phan Thiet, quiet and easy to combine with a coastal loop.
  7. Mui Ne Fishing Village — a working harbour crowded with round basket boats, at its most colourful early in the morning.
  8. Phan Thiet Old Town & Ocean Dunes — the provincial capital, with its riverside fish market and a stretch of golf-course coastline worth a slow ride through.
  9. Hon Rom Beach — a quieter, less developed beach past the main Mui Ne strip, good for a swim away from the crowds.
  10. The coastal road to Ca Na — a scenic ride south along cliffs and empty beaches, one of the best open stretches of tarmac in the province.

What do you need to rent a motorcycle in Binh Thuan?

Required documents vary between rental companies, but common rules are as follows: you should be at least 18 years old; for engines up to 125cc an A1 licence is usually expected, while larger motorcycles call for a full A-class licence. Foreign visitors should carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) together with their home licence — strictly, a Vietnamese-recognised motorcycle licence is required to ride legally, so check the terms of the specific provider on the booking page. Most companies also ask for a deposit, paid in cash or by card and refunded when you return the motorcycle in good condition.

How much does it cost to rent a motorcycle in Binh Thuan?

Motorcycle rental in Binh Thuan starts from around 650,000 VND per day for a mid-size machine and runs up to roughly 1,100,000–1,300,000 VND per day for a bigger or newer model. What you pay depends on the engine size and, importantly, on the time of year. Prices along this coast follow a fairly clear seasonal pattern:

  • December–March (high/dry season) — the driest, sunniest months and the busiest for tourism around Mui Ne, so rates sit at the higher end.
  • April–August (shoulder season) — hot but generally dry, with steady demand and mid-range prices.
  • September–November (low/rainy season) — the wettest stretch of the year, quieter roads and the softest prices.

Within any season, weekends and Vietnamese public holidays are the real peak — that is when the cheapest bikes sell out first and prices edge up. Book a few days ahead to lock in the best rate, especially around Tet and the December–January holiday rush.

When to book a rental motorcycle in Binh Thuan?

The dry season, from December to March, is the most comfortable and popular time to ride, with strong, steady winds that also draw kitesurfers to Mui Ne, clear skies and warm, dry days. April through August stays largely dry and hot, with occasional short showers. The rainy season runs from September to November, bringing heavier and more frequent downpours, though they rarely last all day. If you want the most reliable weather, aim for the winter months; if you want the best price, September and October are kinder to your wallet.

Local traffic rules

In Vietnam you ride on the right-hand side of the road. A helmet is compulsory for both rider and passenger, and the police do enforce it, including on the main road through Mui Ne. Speed limits in built-up areas are typically 40–50 km/h, rising to 60–80 km/h on the open coast road. There is effectively zero tolerance for drink-driving. Traffic along this coast is calmer than in the big cities but still requires care: watch for sand blown across the road near the dunes, ride defensively around trucks on the highway, and give way to buses and freight vehicles. Keep your lights on and take unlit stretches at night slowly.
