Picture yourself weaving along the coast road with the sea on one side and the hills of Vũng Tàu rising on the other, the wind doing the work your feet would otherwise have to do. This slender peninsula packs the Christ the King Statue, two beaches and a working fishing island into a space you can circle in an afternoon — and the easiest way to link it all together is to rent a motorcycle in Vũng Tàu on BikesBooking.com. One morning you might be climbing the switchbacks to the lighthouse for a view over the South China Sea; by evening you're parked along Bãi Trước watching the sun drop behind the bay with a plate of fresh seafood in front of you.
Vũng Tàu was practically built for two wheels. It's a compact peninsula where the sights sit strung along a coastal loop and up two hills — close enough that walking wears thin fast, but spread out enough that everything is a genuine 5–20 minute ride apart. Traffic here is a fraction of what you'd meet in Saigon, the roads are smooth, and a motorcycle rental in Vũng Tàu is really the only way to string together both beaches, both mountains and Long Sơn Island in a single day, with day trips toward Hồ Tràm or Bình Châu open to you whenever you feel like going further.
For anything under 50cc — the usual tourist rental — no driving licence is required in Vietnam. Go above that and you'll need a motorcycle licence, plus a 1968-convention International Driving Permit if you're a foreigner without a Vietnamese licence (older 1949 Geneva-style IDPs, like those issued in the US, aren't valid here). Shops generally ask for a minimum age of 18 and will hold a cash deposit or your passport as security, with the amount varying by bike and rental length.
Local shops charge roughly 80,000–150,000 VND a day for a basic automatic or semi-automatic scooter in low season, while a bigger 150–160cc manual or automatic can run 300,000–500,000 VND a day. Our platform's listings start around 650,000–680,000 VND a day, reflecting delivery, insurance and English-language support on top of the street rate.
High season runs December to February, when dry weather and the Tết holiday around late January or February send demand — and prices — up, with bikes sometimes scarce. Low season falls between June and September, when the rainy afternoons keep crowds and prices down. If you want the best of both, book ahead for the dry months and expect more flexibility and better rates if you're travelling in the rainy stretch.
Vietnam drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for both rider and passenger on any scooter or motorcycle, and checks are routine. There's a zero blood-alcohol limit for riders, enforced at roadside checkpoints especially at night and around holidays. Speed limits are lower in built-up areas and lower still for motorcycles than cars, so read the posted signs rather than assuming a flat number, and remember motorcycles are barred from expressways and some bridges and tunnels. Once you've got your gear sorted, just use the search form at the top of the page to rent a motorcycle in Vũng Tàu. Have a nice trip!
