Sardinia rewards the curious, and Olbia is where you should start earning that reward on four wheels. Pick up a quad and you can be bouncing along dirt tracks above Capo Ceraso within twenty minutes, with Tavolara's limestone wall rising out of the sea on one side and the whole Gallura coast unrolling on the other. Swap the granite headlands for sand and you land at Spiaggia La Cinta near San Teodoro, one of the best beaches in this part of Sardinia and an easy target for an afternoon loop.
Olbia rewards a quad precisely because it refuses to stay one kind of terrain. The coast road runs smooth and paved one minute, then a turn inland drops you onto packed granite and pine-needle tracks that no scooter could survive and no car could squeeze through. Everything worth seeing sits close together too — most of the spots below are ten to forty minutes apart — so a rental quad turns a scattered wish list into one long, satisfying day, with none of the waiting around for buses that never quite go where you want.
Requirements depend on the machine. Lighter road-legal quads can usually be ridden on a moped-level licence, while heavier or more powerful models need at least a car licence. Ask the operator which class their quad falls under before you book. Most rental points set their own minimum age, typically 18, and if your licence was issued outside the EU you should bring an International Driving Permit along with it. A deposit is standard, held on a credit card or in cash, scaled to the value of the vehicle — some operators will also want to hold your passport or ID.
Rates swing a lot between seasons.
July and August are Sardinia at its busiest and priciest, so book well ahead if your trip lands then. For a calmer, cheaper ride, aim for the shoulder months — April, May and October — or the low season from November through March, when prices drop and the coast is far quieter, though some seasonal outlets scale back their hours.
Italy drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger on a quad, no exceptions by age. Speed limits run at 50 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h on rural roads outside towns, and up to 110 km/h on the main extra-urban routes — lighter quadricycles may be capped lower, so check with your rental company. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, dropping to zero for drivers under 21 or holding a licence less than three years. Dipped headlights should stay on at all times once you're outside town.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.
On our website you can hire quad bikes from the following manufacturers: Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Linhai, TGB.
Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
