Palermo rewards the curious traveller who's willing to go beyond the cathedral and the markets, and a quad is the easiest way to do it. Wind up the switchbacks to Monte Pellegrino for a view over the whole Conca d'Oro, then drop back down to the coast and let the road carry you along to Mondello Beach for lunch by the water. Few cities pack this much scenery into such a short ride.
Palermo's old town is tight, chaotic and largely unfriendly to anything bigger than a scooter, so most visitors write off everything beyond the centre as too far to reach. That's a shame, because the real rewards — hill towns, coastal headlands, forested nature reserves — sit just outside the city on roads that are narrow, winding and occasionally rough. A quad handles all of that comfortably, parks anywhere, and gets you home before the heat sets in. If you want to rent a quad bike in Palermo, this is exactly the terrain it was built for.
In Italy, quadricycles are licensed by weight and power: lighter models can be ridden on an AM (moped-level) licence, while heavier or more powerful ones need a B1 or full car licence. Ask your rental operator which class their vehicle falls into before you book. If your licence was issued outside the EU/EEA, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. Most operators set a minimum age around 18, and you should expect to leave a deposit, usually as a card hold, scaled to the value of the quad.
Expect to pay 15-25 EUR per day in low season, rising to 35-55 EUR per day in high season, with premium models running 60-90 EUR per day.
High season runs June through August, plus the Easter weeks, when coastal Sicily fills up fast and prices sit at their highest. Low season stretches from November to March, with quieter roads, easier availability and the cheapest daily rates. For the best mix of warm weather, light traffic and reasonable prices, aim for May, June, September or early October, and reserve your quad a few weeks in advance if you're set on a specific date.
Italy drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger on a quad, with no exceptions. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on ordinary roads outside built-up areas, and lower still on quadricycle-restricted routes, so keep an eye on local signage around Monreale and the coastal roads. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, dropping to zero if you've held your licence less than three years. Watch for Palermo's ZTL zones in the historic centre — entering without a permit triggers an automatic fine that can catch up with you months later.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
