Nha Trang's beachfront is made for lazy afternoons, but the real adventure starts where the pavement runs out. Rent a quad bike in Nha Trang and you can trade the crowded promenade for jungle trails leading to the three-tiered Ba Ho Waterfalls, or follow quiet coastal roads out toward the fishing settlements around Ninh Van Bay. It's the kind of riding that turns a beach holiday into something closer to a jungle expedition — splashing through streams, kicking up dust on dirt tracks, and stopping wherever the view demands it.
Central Nha Trang is dense, fast, and full of scooters weaving between taxis, which makes a quad far more relaxing than trying to thread a two-wheeler through downtown traffic. But once you clear the city, the landscape opens into exactly the terrain a quad handles best: rice-paddy backroads, loose gravel, river crossings and gentle hill climbs. A quad bike rental in Nha Trang gives you the stability of four wheels on ground that would rattle a scooter, and you don't need prior motorbike experience to feel confident behind the handlebars.
Quads aren't treated as ordinary road vehicles in Vietnam, so most operators run them on dunes, tracks and private routes rather than checking for a licence the way a scooter or motorcycle rental would. Even so, we recommend carrying an International Driving Permit if you have a full driving licence at home, since some routes do cross short stretches of public road. Riders are generally expected to be at least 16, though shops can set their own minimum. A deposit is standard practice — usually cash, and the amount depends on the operator and the length of your rental.
Expect around 400,000–500,000 VND per day in low season, rising to 600,000–800,000 VND during high season. Larger or two-seat models typically run 800,000–1,200,000 VND per day.
High season runs roughly November through April, with a second domestic peak around June to August — book a few days ahead if you're arriving during either stretch, and well in advance around Tết, when bikes get scarce and some shops close entirely. Low season falls between May and September, when the heat and afternoon downpours are heaviest, but it's also when you'll find the best daily rates and the widest choice of quads.
Vietnam drives on the right, and helmets are compulsory for every rider on a motorised vehicle — police do check, and fines are issued on the spot. There's a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol behind the handlebars, with no legal threshold at all, so it's worth skipping that beachside beer before an afternoon ride. Speed limits are lower inside built-up areas than on open roads, and change by road class, so keep an eye on posted signs rather than assuming a fixed number. Riding at night calls for headlights on, and quads generally stick to dirt tracks and rural roads rather than mixing with expressway traffic, so you'll rarely need to think about the bigger highways at all.
