Zadar rewards anyone willing to skip the bus timetable and ride instead. Pull up to the Sea Organ as the tide plays its tune, watch the light show at Greeting to the Sun as the sky turns orange, and you're already sold on why a scooter beats a pair of tired feet. From there the whole Dalmatian coast opens up — quick hops to quiet beaches, longer runs to salt-pan towns and mountain canyons — all easily reachable if you rent a scooter in Zadar rather than waiting on connections.
The old town peninsula is largely closed to cars, so a scooter slips through where four wheels can't, and parking is never a fight. Zadar's sights are strung along a flat, compact stretch of coastline, which makes scooter rental in Zadar comfortable even for riders who haven't done much city traffic before. And because the surrounding towns and beaches sit just outside town, a scooter turns an afternoon errand into a proper day trip.
Croatia is stricter than some of its neighbours: a plain car licence is not enough. To rent a scooter in Zadar above 50cc you need at least a category A1 licence, and for a 50cc moped a category AM licence will do. Most agencies set the practical minimum age at 18, and some ask for the licence to have been held a little longer. Bring the physical licence card, expect a deposit (held on a card or in cash and released on return undamaged), and if your licence was issued outside the EU/EEA, carry an International Driving Permit as well.
Scooter hire in Zadar runs roughly EUR 5–10 per day in low season and EUR 15–25 per day in high season, with newer or premium models reaching EUR 25–35 per day.
July and August are Zadar's busiest and priciest months, so book a few weeks ahead if you're travelling then. May, June, September and early October give you warm, dry weather without the peak crowds or prices — a sweet spot for exploring at a relaxed pace. From November to March things go quiet: cheaper rates, but fewer shops open.
Croatia drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for both rider and passenger, no exceptions, and your headlight stays on day and night year-round on a scooter or motorcycle. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on open roads and up to 130 km/h on motorways (mopeds are capped at 45 km/h and can't use motorways at all). The blood-alcohol limit is 0.05%, dropping to zero for drivers under 25 — and police do check, especially along the coastal road and around tourist towns in summer. Ride within the rules, book through our website, and enjoy the coast at your own pace. Have a nice trip!

When you make an online scooter reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, delivery to your hotel, delivery to your address, delivery to the arrival point of your choice.
