Olbia's harbor gives you a straightforward promise: hop on a motorcycle and within twenty minutes you're leaning through curves above the water. Ride north and the road opens onto the coves and marinas of Costa Smeralda, where Porto Cervo's yachts sit against granite headlands. Or take the short run out to Spiaggia di Pittulongu for a swim with Isola Tavolara rising out of the sea in front of you. This is a corner of Sardinia built for two wheels, and a motorcycle rental in Olbia is the easiest way into it.
Olbia itself is small enough to cross on foot, but everything worth seeing sits twenty minutes to an hour up the coast on roads that twist along cliffs and duck through granite outcrops — the kind of driving a car handles slowly, especially once summer traffic and beach-town parking kick in. A motorcycle skips the queues, fits into any gap near the shore, and lets you stop wherever the view demands it. If you want to rent a motorcycle in Olbia, this is exactly the terrain it was made for.
The licence you need depends on the machine: category A1 covers scooters and motorcycles up to 125cc, A2 covers mid-power bikes, and full category A is needed for anything unrestricted. If your licence was issued outside the EU/EEA, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. Most rental operators set their own minimum age, typically 18, and some require you to have held your licence for a minimum period on larger machines. Expect a deposit, usually a credit card hold sized to the vehicle's value, and be ready to leave a copy of your passport or ID.
A standard scooter runs around EUR 20-30 per day in low season, with EUR 25 per day a fair anchor price, while high season pushes that to roughly EUR 45-70 per day. Larger motorcycles or premium models cost more, from around EUR 60 to over EUR 100 per day at the peak.
High season runs June through August, with July and August the busiest and priciest months on the whole island. Low season stretches from November to March, when prices drop and some seasonal outlets scale back their hours. If you can, aim for May, June, September or early October: warm, dry weather, thinner crowds, and better availability without the summer premium. Whichever season you're travelling in, book ahead for the coast and islands — Costa Smeralda fills up fast.
Italy drives on the right, and helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger on a motorcycle or scooter, no exceptions. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on ordinary roads outside built-up areas, and up to 110 km/h on the main extra-urban routes. Dipped headlights must stay on at all times, day and night. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, dropping to zero for riders under 21 or holding a licence less than three years.
On our website you can rent the following types of motorcycles: cruiser, sport, touring, standard, classic, dual-purpose, dirt bikes, street, naked bikes or roadsters, choppers, custom, streetfighter, sport-touring, dual-sport, on-road, off-road, adventure motorcycles, supermoto, scrambler, motorcycle with sidecar, enduro, motocross mx, trail, motards, tricycles, bikes with automatic or manual gears, luxury motorbikes.
On our website you can hire motorcycles from the following manufacturers: BMW, Harley Davidson, Aprilia, Buell, Cagiva, Ducati, Gilera, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Husqvarna, Jawa, MV Agusta, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, Benelli, Bajaj, Indian, Royal Enfield, TVS, Beta, Bimota.
Most providers include basic third-party liability insurance in the rental price, with options to upgrade to fuller coverage that reduces or removes your deposit liability in case of damage or theft. Always confirm exactly what is and isn’t covered before you set off.
When you make an online motorbike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, or delivery to your chosen address.
Most of our motorcycle rental providers have years of experience and will equip you with a well-maintained bike, helmet and insurance for the ride ahead. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a motorcycle locally, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
