Picture this: the sun's dropping over the Mediterranean, the promenade at Moonlight Park is glowing amber, and instead of waiting on a dolmuş, you're pedaling along the seafront with the wind doing the cooling for you. Kemer rewards exactly this kind of freedom — a short ride gets you from your hotel to the harbor at Kemer Marina, past fishing boats and cafes, with nothing standing between you and the coast but a bit of pedal power.
What makes this town so well suited to two wheels is its shape: flat, compact and hugging the shoreline, with the marina, beaches and old town all within easy reach of each other. Distances that would eat up your afternoon on foot or waiting for transport shrink to a few relaxed minutes on a bike, and the paved seafront strip gives first-timers an easy, traffic-light way to get oriented before venturing further out.
Good news: an ordinary bicycle needs no licence at all, so anyone can hop on. Most rental shops ask riders to be at least 18 and will hold a small deposit, usually a card hold rather than cash. Skip any shop that wants to keep your passport — a photocopy alongside the deposit is the safer way to go, and no international driving permit is needed for a bicycle.
Our listings start from around 3 EUR per day in low season, which works out to roughly 100–130 TRY for a basic city or beach bike. In peak summer, expect to pay closer to 250–400 TRY a day for a standard bike, with e-bikes or higher-quality mountain bikes running 400–700+ TRY.
High season runs June through August, spilling into early September, and this is when both prices and demand peak — book ahead if you're travelling in midsummer. From November to March, Kemer settles into low season: cheaper rates, but also quieter shops and shorter opening hours, so it pays to call ahead. If you want the best of both worlds, May, June, September and October offer milder weather and easier availability.
Turkey drives on the right, and while a bicycle doesn't legally require a helmet, wearing one is a smart habit given the summer's dense, unpredictable resort traffic. Riders should stick well to the side of the road, stay alert around cars pulling out without signalling, and remember that local drivers won't always give cyclists the right of way they might expect back home. Alcohol limits are strict for motorised traffic, but common sense applies to everyone: if you've been drinking, walk your bike home instead.
