Provence unfolds properly once you leave the city walls behind, and a quad-bike is the easiest way to do it. Picture the road climbing out toward Châteauneuf-du-Pape, vines rolling on either side, or the wind-carved cliffs of Les Alpilles opening up past Les Baux-de-Provence. You will feel every turn of the D-roads instead of watching them through a bus window, and you can pull over whenever a view or a vineyard tempts you.
Avignon's old town is compact, cobbled and largely closed to traffic, so it rewards walking far more than riding. The real appeal of a quad rental in Avignon lies just outside the ramparts: the surrounding countryside is stitched together by quiet, well-surfaced D-roads, with the Luberon villages, the Rhône vineyards and the foothills of Mont Ventoux all sitting 20–40 km away — near enough for a half-day loop, far enough that public transport barely bothers to go there. An open-air ride suits this landscape far better than a coach seat.
On public roads a licence is always required: light quadricycles up to 50cc fall under the AM category, while heavier machines need a B1 or full category B car licence, depending on the model — the rental company will confirm which applies to the quad you book. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their home licence. Expect a security deposit, usually held by card pre-authorisation and released on undamaged return; ask the operator for the exact amount and insurance excess when you book.
Prices swing a lot with the season. Our own listings start from 15 EUR per day in low season, while a standard quad in high season runs 60–100 EUR per day, and larger two-seater or off-road models reach 120–180 EUR per day.
High season runs June through August, peaking hard in late July and August when the whole of France is on holiday and rates climb accordingly. Low season stretches from November to March, with the calmest roads and the lowest prices. If you want warm weather without the crowds or the premium, May, June and September are the sweet spot — and early October still holds up well in Provence.
France drives on the right. A helmet is compulsory for anyone riding a motorised quad on public roads, and speed limits generally run at 80 km/h on rural two-way roads outside towns (some départements have restored 90 km/h, so watch the signage) and drop to 50 km/h once you pass a town-name sign. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, falling to effectively zero for riders still in their first three years of holding a licence. Keep a reflective vest on board in case you need to stop at the roadside.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.
On our website you can hire quad bikes from the following manufacturers: Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Can-Am, CFMoto, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Linhai, TGB.
Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a quad bike, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
