Belgrade rewards travellers who get off the main boulevards, and a quad is the easiest way to do it. One minute you're climbing the ramparts of Kalemegdan Fortress for a view over the meeting point of the Sava and Danube, the next you're bumping along the cobbles of Zemun's riverside promenade with the Gardoš Tower ahead of you. Rent a quad bike in Belgrade and the whole city — old town, river islands, forested hills — opens up in a single day.

Belgrade's must-see spots sit close together along the river, but the best extras lie just outside downtown, on the kind of mixed urban and forest roads a quad is built for: the climb up Avala, the tight lanes of Zemun, the trails through Košutnjak. A quad handles that terrain more comfortably than a scooter, yet stays far more nimble than a car once you're threading through old-town traffic. Here, the ride itself becomes part of the sightseeing, especially along the river confluence and on the way up to Avala Tower.

Top 10 things to see in Belgrade by quad bike

  1. Kalemegdan Fortress and Park — Belgrade's iconic fortress above the river confluence, an obligatory quick ride from any central pickup point.
  2. Ada Ciganlija — the city's river-island beach and recreation zone, ideal for a relaxed lakeside loop and a swim stop.
  3. Confluence of the Sava and Danube (Ušće) — the best skyline and water views in the city, right below the fortress.
  4. Zemun — a cobbled riverside district with its own promenade, a favourite short ride out of the centre.
  5. Gardoš Tower — a hilltop viewpoint over the Danube and Zemun's rooftops.
  6. Avala Tower and Avala Mountain — a forested hill south of the city with a tall observation tower, a classic longer quad excursion.
  7. Skadarlija — the bohemian cobblestone quarter, best explored slowly with a food and drink stop along the way.
  8. Church of Saint Sava — one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, a striking stop on any city loop.
  9. Belgrade Waterfront and the Sava Promenade — a modern riverside strip, good for an easy evening ride along the water.
  10. Košutnjak Forest Park — a wooded park on the city's southwest edge, a welcome change of pace from the urban route.

What do you need to rent a quad bike in Belgrade?

Road-legal quads require a valid driving licence — light quadricycles fall under a B1-type category in the Serbian system — and rental agencies typically ask for a minimum age of 18, though some set the bar at 21 or require the licence to have been held for a minimum period. If you're travelling from outside the EU, bring an International Driving Permit alongside your national licence. Expect a deposit as well, usually taken as a card pre-authorisation, and be ready to leave your passport or ID copied with the agency.

How much does it cost to rent a quad bike in Belgrade?

Average low-season prices start around 1750 RSD per day, rising to roughly 2500–3500 RSD per day in high season for a comparable model. Larger or newer quads can run 4000 RSD per day and up.

  • November to March: cheapest rates, cold and often wet weather.
  • June to September: peak demand and peak prices, the warmest months.
  • May–June and September–early October: a good middle ground of price and riding weather.

When to book a rental quad bike in Belgrade?

High season runs June to August, when Belgrade is busiest and prices sit at their highest — book ahead if you're arriving then. Low season, November to March, brings the cheapest rates but also cold, sometimes snowy conditions that make longer rides less enjoyable. For the best balance, aim for May–June or September–early October, when the weather is mild and prices haven't yet hit their summer peak.

Local traffic rules in Belgrade

Serbia drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for anyone riding a quad, moped or motorcycle, and dipped headlights must stay on at all times, day and night. Speed limits are 50 km/h in built-up areas and 80 km/h on open roads outside town — Avala's approach roads count as the latter. The blood-alcohol limit is 0.02%, effectively a no-drinking rule, and it's worth carrying your licence, IDP, rental contract and the vehicle's papers with you, since police checks are routine.
