For travelers who prefer adrenaline and speed, motorcycles are a thrilling way to discover Atlanta and beyond. From city streets to winding mountain roads north of the city, renting a motorbike unlocks a completely different perspective.
Rental Requirements in Atlanta
Required documents vary depending on the rental company, but common rules are as follows:
You can rent a motorcycle with an engine capacity of up to 125cc if you hold a B (car) license or any motorcycle license (A1, A2, A);
A full A category motorcycle license is required for all motorcycles above 125cc.
Some rental companies also request an International Driving Permit (IDP) and a deposit (cash or card). Always review the rental terms on the provider’s platform before booking.
Motorcycles must follow the same rules as cars. Helmets are mandatory in Georgia. Riding between lanes (lane splitting) is not legal. Inside the city, traffic can be heavy, so many riders prefer to use their bikes for quick escapes to nearby attractions or day trips.
