Picture swapping the crowded coast road for the driver's seat of your own quad bike in Monte Estoril: one minute you're cruising the seafront past Praia do Tamariz, the next you're climbing the twisting hill roads of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park toward the cliffs of Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe. It's the kind of trip that rewards a bit of independence, and a quad gives you exactly that — no timetables, no tour buses, just you and the coastline.
Monte Estoril sits right at the hub of a short, varied stretch of coast, and that's precisely why it suits a quad so well. Cascais, Sintra and the beaches around Guincho are all only 10-30 minutes away, but the roads between them shift character constantly — smooth seafront promenade, sharp hill bends, sandy tracks near the dunes. A car struggles to feel nimble on this mix, and parking in Cascais or Sintra in high season is its own headache. A quad handles all of it comfortably, and lets you skip the search for a parking spot altogether.
Requirements depend on how the quad is registered. A road-registered quad needs a driving licence, though the exact category depends on the machine's homologation, so it's worth confirming with the operator before booking; guided off-road quad tours on private land are often run without any licence at all. Rental companies usually set their own minimum age, typically higher than the legal minimum, and a deposit — held on a credit card — is standard practice. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their national licence.
A basic quad starts from around 15 EUR per day in low season, rising to roughly 35-60 EUR per day in July and August. Larger-displacement quads or side-by-side buggies run about 50-90 EUR per day depending on the season.
If you're travelling in July or August, book well ahead — vehicles get snapped up fast and prices sit at their highest. Aim instead for April to June or September to October if you can: the weather is still warm and dry, roads are quieter, and rates sit comfortably below the summer peak. From November through February you'll find the lowest prices of the year, though a bit less sunshine to enjoy them in.
Portugal drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger on a road-registered quad, no exceptions. Speed limits are 50 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h on open roads and up to 120 km/h on motorways, though you'll rarely need anything close to that on these coastal routes. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, dropping to 0.2 g/l for drivers licensed less than three years, and roadside checks are common, so it's best to ride sober.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service.
