Quarteira rewards travellers who want to cover ground on their own schedule. Rent a quad-bike here and the ride starts right on the town's own sandy stretch, Praia de Quarteira, before the road bends east toward the ochre cliffs of Praia da Falésia and the yachts moored at Vilamoura Marina. Twenty minutes inland, the coastline gives way to olive groves and the whitewashed lanes of Loulé — a completely different Algarve on the same afternoon.
A quad suits this stretch of coast because Quarteira sits at the hub of a tight cluster of resort towns — Vilamoura, Albufeira, Vale do Lobo — linked by short paved roads, plus dirt tracks running into the Loulé hills that a scooter or hire car simply can't handle as comfortably. You skip the marina's summer parking squeeze entirely, and switching from promenade tarmac to a rougher inland trail is part of the fun rather than a problem.
A road-registered quad requires a valid driving licence, though the exact category depends on how the machine is homologated — our partners will confirm which one applies before you book. Non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their home licence. Rental companies set their own minimum age, usually above the legal minimum, and you'll need to leave a deposit, typically held on a credit card, with the amount depending on the model and season.
Expect to pay 15–25 EUR per day during low season and 35–55 EUR during high season, with premium two-seat or higher-cc models running 50–80 EUR per day.
High season runs June to September, with July and August the busiest and priciest weeks — book ahead, since good machines sell out. Low season stretches from November to March, when rates drop to their lowest and the coast is far quieter. If you want warm weather without the crowds or the premium price tag, aim for April to June or September to October.
Portugal drives on the right. Helmets are compulsory for every rider and passenger on a road-registered quad, and headlights stay on at all times, day or night. Speed limits are 50 km/h in town, 90 km/h on open roads and up to 120 km/h on motorways. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 g/l, dropping to 0.2 g/l for anyone who has held a licence less than three years, and roadside checks are common along the Algarve in summer.

When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service.
