Manali is not a destination — it’s a gateway. To Lahaul, Spiti, Leh, and the high Himalayan passes, you need power, durability, and luggage capacity. A motorcycle delivers all three. Unlike scooters, which falter above 3,000m, adventure and dual-sport motorcycles handle thin air, gravel, and steep gradients with confidence. Rent one, and you’re not just visiting the mountains — you’re moving through them, on your own schedule, with total route control.
Required documents vary between rental companies, but common rules are as follows:
The most practical motorcycles for Manali-based touring are adventure and dual-sport models: Royal Enfield Himalayan (411cc), KTM 250/390 Adventure, BMW G310GS. These feature long-travel suspension, upright ergonomics, and engine guards — essential for the Manali–Leh Highway’s unpaved sections. Cruisers and naked bikes (e.g., RE Classic 350, KTM Duke 200) work well for valley rides (Old Manali, Vashisht, Solang) but are not recommended for high passes. Off-road and enduro bikes are available but require advanced skill and prior arrangement.
On our website you can hire motorcycles from the following manufacturers: BMW, Harley Davidson, Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Husqvarna, Royal Enfield, Triumph, Bajaj, TVS. All bikes undergo pre-monsoon servicing — chain tension, brake pad thickness, and tire tread depth are verified before handover. Helmets, locks, and basic tool kits are standard.
When you make an online motorbike reservation you also can order:
– Full insurance (covers high-altitude breakdowns and off-pavement incidents)
– GPS navigation with preloaded Himalayan routes (offline Maps.me or Gaia)
– Top and side cases (for multi-day trips — dry bags recommended inside)
– Textile jacket and gloves (temperatures drop sharply above 3,500m)
– Intercom system (for rider-pillion communication in wind)
– Individual guide or tour (highly advised for first-time Rohtang/Baralacha riders)
– Delivery to hotel, bus stand, or Bhuntar Airport
Most of our motorcycle rental providers in Manali specialise in Himalayan touring and offer pre-ride briefings on altitude, road conditions, and permit requirements. They will provide you with a well-serviced bike, helmet, lock, top case, GPS (on request), insurance, and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a motorcycle in Manali, just use the search form on the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
