Agadir doesn't feel like most Moroccan cities, and that's exactly what makes it so good on two wheels. A long, flat promenade traces the whole curve of the bay, so instead of dodging traffic or waiting on taxis, you can just get on a bike and go — past the beach clubs, down to the palm-lined Marina d'Agadir for a coffee among the yachts, or inland for twenty minutes to lose yourself in the stalls of Souk El Had. Ride a little further north and the coast opens up into the surf villages of Taghazout and Tamraght, where fishing boats and board racks replace the resort hotels.
What makes this city suit a bike so well is the geography as much as the climate. The Corniche was practically built for it — flat, paved, and running for kilometres without a single hill to fight. Add Agadir's dry, mild weather most of the year, and you've got a coastal string of beaches, viewpoints and villages that are genuinely awkward to link by taxi but easy to string together on a bike. The one exception is the climb up to the old Kasbah, which is steep enough that it rewards fitter riders or an e-bike rather than a casual pedal.
Renting a bicycle is refreshingly simple: no licence is required at any age, and you won't need an International Driving Permit either. You'll typically be asked for a small deposit and your passport details when you pick up the bike. If you're planning to swap to a scooter for the longer runs out to Taghazout or Paradise Valley, note that a licence is normally required on public roads, and rental companies usually set their own minimum age — commonly 21 — separate from the legal minimum.
A standard bicycle rental runs from 30-40 MAD per day in low season up to 60-90 MAD per day in high season. If you'd rather ride a mountain bike or e-bike — worth considering for the Kasbah climb — expect 100-150 MAD per day.
High season stretches across December-February and July-August, so if you're travelling then, book your bike rental in Agadir a few days ahead to get the model you want. For lower prices and quieter roads, aim for May-June or September-November — the weather is still mild, and you'll have the Corniche largely to yourself.
Morocco drives on the right, with overtaking on the left, so keep that in mind if you're used to the opposite. Helmets are legally required for motorcycle and scooter riders, and it's worth wearing one on a bike too, especially if you're heading out on shared roads toward Taghazout. Speed limits sit around 60 km/h in town and rise to 100 km/h on the open road outside built-up areas. Morocco takes a zero-tolerance approach to drink-driving, so it's best to skip alcohol entirely before any ride.
