Arusha's traffic thins fast once you leave the roundabouts behind, and within twenty minutes you can be climbing dirt tracks toward the crater rim inside Arusha National Park, flamingos wading below at Momella Lakes, Meru's slopes rising green and close on your left. Rent a quad bike in Arusha and you get to set that pace yourself — stopping wherever the light is good, without a driver watching the clock.
Central Arusha is dense and slow — motorbike taxis, market traffic, narrow lanes — but almost nothing worth seeing sits inside it. The good stuff is on the unpaved farm roads and crater tracks just outside town, terrain built for a quad's clearance and grip rather than a scooter's city manners. You don't need off-road bike skills, just a willingness to point it uphill.
You'll need a valid driving licence covering the vehicle class plus an International Driving Permit — a car-only licence from home isn't enough on its own for two- and four-wheeled off-road rentals, and operators typically ask to see it before handing over the keys. A deposit is standard practice; where possible, pay cash rather than leaving your passport behind. Minimum age requirements vary by operator but are generally set above Tanzania's legal driving age of 18.
Average rental price starts around 38,000–42,000 TZS per day in low season, rising to roughly 55,000–70,000 TZS per day in high season. Larger or newer 4x4 quads run closer to 75,000–100,000 TZS per day.
Book ahead if you're travelling in June through October or from late December into February — this is high season, when demand for a **quad bike rental in Arusha** peaks alongside safari and Kilimanjaro traffic and prices sit at their highest. If your dates are flexible, March to May brings the long rains and the cheapest prices, though some unpaved tracks turn slick; November's short rains are milder and still count as a good-value window.
Tanzania drives on the left, with overtaking on the right. Helmets are mandatory for riders and passengers alike. Speed limits sit around 50 km/h in built-up areas and 80 km/h on the open road, with speed bumps and checkpoints common through villages. Zero alcohol is the only safe approach before riding — the legal threshold is low and enforcement is real. Keep your licence, IDP and rental papers on you, since roadside document checks happen often, and avoid riding after dark: unlit vehicles, potholes and livestock on the road make night rides genuinely risky here.
On our website you can rent the following types of quad bikes: sport ATV, utility quad, two-seater quad, automatic quad, manual-shift quad, 4x4 quad, buggy (UTV), off-road racing quad, kids' quad, and larger touring ATVs.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a quad bike without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online quad bike reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: helmet, goggles, gloves, individual guide or instructor, photo and video service of your ride, transfer to the starting point of your ride, full insurance, delivery to the address you choose.
Most of our local quad bike rentals have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-maintained quad, helmet, guide and friendly service.
