Batumi rewards anyone willing to leave the seafront behind. The city itself is easy on foot, but the real adventure starts once the road turns to gravel and climbs into Adjara — toward the waterfall at Makhuntseti, the forest trails of Mtirala, or the border beach at Sarpi. A quad puts all of that within reach in a single afternoon, without waiting on a driver or a tour bus schedule.
This is exactly why Batumi suits a quad better than almost any other vehicle. The old town and boulevard are compact enough to walk, so you don't need wheels there at all — but the mountains behind the city are a different story. Cars struggle on the unpaved switchbacks toward Machakhela and Keda, and a scooter simply can't cope with river crossings and loose stone. A quad handles both the rough inland routes and the easy coastal cruise toward Kobuleti, which is why it's become the go-to choice for exploring Adjara beyond the beach.
Requirements depend on where you'll ride. If the quad stays on private tracks or a tour base, most operators just ask for an ID or passport and a short briefing. If you'll be riding on public roads, you'll need a valid driving licence — an IDP isn't required, but it's worth carrying if your licence isn't in Latin script. Minimum age is usually 18, sometimes higher, and a deposit is standard, either in cash or as a card hold, with a copy of your passport often kept alongside it.
A standard quad runs from around 40-50 GEL per day in low season up to 90-150 GEL per day in high season, with larger-engine or two-seat models reaching 180-260 GEL per day.
High season runs June through September, peaking in July and August, when both prices and demand for a quad-bike rental in Batumi are at their highest. Low season stretches from November to March, when many outlets scale back but you'll find the best rates if you don't mind cooler weather. Booking a week or two ahead in summer is a safe bet if you want your pick of models.
Georgia drives on the right. Helmets are mandatory for riders and passengers on any powered two-wheeler or quad used on public roads. Speed limits are 60 km/h in built-up areas and 90 km/h outside them unless signs say otherwise. Alcohol tolerance is close to zero, so don't ride after drinking, and take mountain roads slowly — blind corners, gravel patches and the odd stray animal are part of the route once you're off the coast.
