Downtown Vancouver hugs the water on three sides, and once you're past the glass towers, the whole province opens up. Ride the Stanley Park Seawall at sunset with the North Shore mountains glowing across the harbor, then point north on the Sea to Sky Highway toward Squamish, where the road cuts along Howe Sound between cliff and ocean the entire way. A morning in traffic and a lunch stop at Horseshoe Bay can turn into an afternoon of curves you'll still be thinking about back home.
Vancouver's downtown grid is compact but the bridges and rush-hour crawl punish anyone stuck in a car, so a motorcycle lets you slip through and park in a fraction of the space. That same nimbleness pays off the moment you leave the city: the North Shore climbs into twisty mountain roads within twenty minutes, and the Sea to Sky corridor is one of the best stretches of tarmac in the country. Few cities put this much genuine mountain riding so close to a downtown core.
You'll need a full motorcycle-class licence — Class 6 in British Columbia — not a learner or novice stage. Rental companies generally ask for a minimum age of 21, sometimes 25 for larger-displacement bikes, plus some prior riding experience. An International Driving Permit isn't required for most foreign licences, though some agencies prefer to see one alongside your original. Expect a deposit or a credit-card pre-authorisation in your own name before you ride off.
Average rental price runs about 35-45 CAD per day during low season and 65-95 CAD per day during high season for standard models. Larger-displacement or premium bikes run higher.
High season runs June through August, sometimes into early September, when nearly every rental operator is open and the Sea to Sky roads are at their best. Low season stretches from November to March, when many motorcycle rental operations close entirely across most of Canada — though Vancouver's mild coastal climate keeps things milder than the rest of the country. Book a few weeks ahead for summer dates; outside high season, availability is easier but options thin out.
Canada drives on the right. Helmets are mandatory for every motorcycle rider and passenger, no exceptions. Speed limits are posted in km/h: typically 50 km/h in the city, rising to 90-110 km/h on highways, with British Columbia posting 120 km/h on a few stretches. The legal blood-alcohol limit is 0.08%, but roadside penalties in BC kick in from 0.05%, so it's safest to ride completely sober. Lane splitting is illegal everywhere in Canada, and headlights should stay on at all times while riding.

The Heritage Softail® Classic is styled to recall the past. The fat front fork is reminiscent of a 1949 Harley-Davidson® Hydra Glide. The old-fashioned looking, studded-leather saddlebags, chrome-studded seat add to its classic look, as does the full windshield, floorboards, large chrome headlamp with twin passing lamps and Fat Bob fuel tank. Sixteen-inch laced wheels feature a new chromed-aluminum hub and a machined-aluminum rear hub. The Heritage Softail is American iron at its finest; the perfect blend of chrome, leather and steel. This bike has a wide, comfortable seat for riders; and one of the most comfortable seat and backrest combinations for passengers. The riding position is a bit more reclined that other touring models, and the handlebar height provides riders with a sensation of riding a classic American chopper, while still allowing for a comfortable and safe ride. The 25.5" seat height makes it an attractive bike for riders with shorter legs who still want the comfort and handling of a touring model.

The Street Glide is known for its excellent handling and sleek lines that come as a result of the low-rise windshield. The hard saddlebags provide good storage space for 1-2 people on shorter journeys. The addition of a small luggage rack behind the passenger seat allows for extra luggage storage on longer rides or tours. Riders over 6’ tall should be aware that the windshield provides little to no wind protection from the neck up, so a full-face helmet is recommended for extended riding at higher speeds.
