Linz is not just an urban destination – it’s also a gateway to Upper Austria’s countryside. Renting a motorcycle gives you the thrill of exploring both the city and the surrounding valleys, hills, and scenic roads along the Danube.
A valid motorcycle license is required for rentals in Linz. Smaller bikes up to 125cc may sometimes be rented with a car license, but for larger motorcycles a full A license is necessary. An International Driving Permit may also be required for foreign riders, and rental shops usually ask for a deposit.
Motorcycles must be returned in the same condition as received. Helmets are always included, but protective jackets or gloves may cost extra. Many companies expect drop-off at the same location, though some offer optional hotel delivery or flexible return services.
Helmets are mandatory. Riders must follow posted speed limits, which are lower in city zones. Motorcycles are not allowed on sidewalks or bicycle lanes. Lights should be used at night, and lane splitting is not legal.
