Skanderbeg Square looks calm enough on a map, but on foot it's a wide, sun-baked crossing between the National History Museum, the Et'hem Bey Mosque and the old clock tower — the kind of place you want a fast way out of once you've seen it. Hop on a scooter here and Tirana opens up: the Pyramid's sloped rooftop is five minutes away, the lake at the Grand Park another few, and by afternoon you could be climbing toward Dajti or rolling into the hills for Petrelë Castle. Riding lets you string these together in one day instead of choosing just one.
Tirana's core is compact but genuinely chaotic — narrow one-way streets, parking that seems to invent its own rules, and traffic that thickens fast around midday. A scooter slips through all of it, door to door, in a fraction of the time a car would take and for far less than stacking up taxi fares. It also makes the out-of-town trips — Dajti, the lakes, Kruja, Petrelë — easy half-day loops instead of a logistics problem involving buses and timetables.
For scooters up to 50cc, rental shops in Tirana generally accept either a moped-category (AM) licence or a full car licence, though enforcement varies from one company to the next — for anything larger you'll need an actual motorcycle licence. You should be at least 18. Expect to leave a deposit, usually a card hold, plus your passport or ID held or photographed for the duration of the rental. If your licence isn't from the EU, carrying an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside it is strongly recommended.
A basic 50cc scooter runs from around 500 ALL a day in low season, with listings on our site starting near that mark, up to roughly 1000–1800 ALL a day once high season hits. Larger or newer models can climb to 2000–3000+ ALL a day at the peak.
High season runs June through August, when prices sit at their highest and the best scooters get booked out early — reserve at least a couple of weeks ahead if you're travelling then. Low season stretches from November to March, with the softest prices and plenty of same-day availability. If you'd rather skip both extremes, May, June and September into early October give you good weather without the July–August crowds or cost.
Albania drives on the right. Helmets are mandatory for both rider and passenger on scooters and mopeds, no exceptions. Alcohol tolerance is essentially zero — 0.01% blood-alcohol limit, and zero if you're newly licensed. Inside the city, speed limits sit around 40 km/h, rising to 80 km/h on interurban roads outside town; mopeds are capped lower than that. Lane discipline in central Tirana is loose and parking can be improvised, so ride a little more defensively than you might at home, especially around the square at rush hour.
On our website you can rent the following types of scooters: classic scooter, Vespa, moped, motoroller, motoscooter, with a sidecar, with automatic or manual gears, three-wheeled scooters, large, maxi-scooter, touring, scooters with a windscreen and a roof, underbones, electric scooters.

Usually basic third-party insurance is included in the rental price. If you wish to have more protection you can purchase additional CDW insurance, which limits your risk to the amount of your deposit. If you wish to rent a scooter without a deposit and with zero risk, you will need to add full insurance to your reservation.
When you make an online scooter reservation you can also order the following extra services and equipment: integral helmet, GPS navigation, intercom, unlimited mileage, top case, side cases, boots, jacket, gloves, individual guide or tour, map, full insurance, one-way rental, delivery to your hotel, delivery to your address, delivery to the arrival point of your choice.
Most of our local moped rental companies have many years of experience and will provide you with a well-kept scooter, helmet, lock, top case, GPS, insurance and friendly service. The number of companies we work with is increasing every day, so if you want to rent a scooter, just use the search form at the top of the page. Have a nice trip!
